What is Bitcoin Core?

Bitcoin Core is the main implementation of the software that allows users to interact with the Bitcoin blockchain. Bitcoin Core was initially created by Satoshi Nakamoto, but is not owned by any single entity, business, or organization. Nevertheless, it is updated, maintained, and reviewed by a global community of software engineers and computer scientists. By running the Bitcoin Core code, a user acts as a node on the network that can independently verify both the validity of block creation on the network and the transactions sent by network users.
