What is Dividend?

Dividends are regular payments made by a stock-issuing company to its shareholders. While not all stocks pay dividends, the exact distribution of stock dividends is determined by a company's board of directors. Dividends are usually paid in fiat currency, although they are sometimes paid in new shares of additional stock.
