What is Homestead (March 2016)?

Homestead was an upgrade of the Ethereum network that took place during March 2016, after the initial Frontier phase of the Ethereum network was determined to be stable enough for the launch of Homestead. Homestead provided much of the same beta testing-level experience as Frontier, alongside a command line interface (CLI), more stability, and a few additional features.
