What is Honest Geppetto Attack?

An Honest Geppetto Attack refers to a computer network attack in which a hacker runs a large number of nodes for a long period of time in order to gain the trust of other nodes in a given network. When this has been achieved, the attacker abruptly takes the nodes offline with the goal of disrupting the entire network. The best way to prevent an Honest Geppetto Attack is to build a network large enough that this attack is rendered ineffective.
