NASDAQ, based in New York City, is the second largest stock exchange in the world by market capitalization, second only to the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE). The stock exchange is a global electronic marketplace for buying, selling, and trading securities that was launched in 1971. NASDAQ was created by the National Association of Securities Dealers (NASD) which later became the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA). Most of the largest tech stocks in the world, including Amazon, Apple, Google, Tesla, and Facebook are listed on NASDAQ, which makes its influence nearly immeasurable globally.
