What is Simplified Payment Verification (SPV)?

Simplified payment verification (SPV) allows for the running of a light node (or light-client node), more commonly referred to as a crypto wallet. SPV allows a crypto wallet user to verify crypto transactions without needing to download an entire copy of a blockchain or even an entire copy of the block containing the transaction the user wants to verify.
