What is Smart Home?

A smart home is a tech-enabled home setup in which various functions such as heating, lighting, and appliance configurations are automated or remotely managed via network-connected devices such as a mobile phone or tablet. Smart home setups usually involve the use of both hardware and software solutions to improve occupants' convenience and efficiency, and are one of the most widely recognized applications of Internet of Things (IoT) technology. For instance, an occupant's sleep tracker wearable may be synced to a room's temperature control system, which will then automatically adjust the room's temperature in accordance with the occupant's sleep patterns and personal preferences.
