What is Sybil Attack?

A Sybil attack is an online security breach where an attacker can create multiple fake identities that can act as nodes in order to flood a target network with the intent of disrupting it or taking it over. Sybil attacks exploit how legitimate nodes form connections with one another. Sybil attacks can be especially dangerous when directed at systems in which new nodes are created and synced with relative ease.
