What is Tangle (IOTA)?

The IOTA Tangle is the name given to the IOTA Directed Acyclic Graph (DAG) distributed ledger protocol. The Tangle is designed specifically to be used for IOTA's Internet of Things (IoT)-based business model and was built by the IOTA foundation in Germany. The protocol was developed to allow for the use of fee-less micro-transactions designed to accommodate the growing global ecosystem of IoT devices, which include smart appliances, smart homes, smart cars, wearables, and much more.
