Hal Finney was a famous cryptographer and programmer who was employed by PGP Corporation for many years and eventually became known as one of the early pioneers responsible for the creation of the Bitcoin network. Finney was the recipient of the first Bitcoin transaction that was allegedly sent by Bitcoin creator Satoshi Nakomoto. Many have hypothesized that Finney himself was Satoshi Nakomoto, however during an interview shortly before his death in 2014, Finney stated that he was not Nakamoto. To this day he is considered one of the most influential and iconic software developers of our time.
