Harit, a leading member of the Etherscan team and a renowned Ethereum blockchain researcher, has made a request for funding amounting to $1 million per year to support the development of the Ethereum Name Service (ENS). This request has garnered attention, including that of Colin Wu, a notable Chinese journalist.
In his proposal, Harit emphasizes that the presence of ENS names on high-level blockchains is crucial for maintaining and stimulating the continuous usage and adoption of ENS. ENS, a decentralized open-source naming system, facilitates the association of user-friendly names with Ethereum addresses.
Etherscan team harith.eth recently proposed in the ENS DAO forum, requesting a $1 million/year budget to fund the continued development, support and related development of ENS on Etherscan. In November 2021, Etherscan received 46,296.3 ENS donations from ENS.…

Harit notes that the funding request is aimed at the ongoing development, support, and coverage of expenses related to hosting ENS on Etherscan and blockchain explorers managed by the team.
Furthermore, Harit outlines several useful features that Etherscan can create as part of this initiative. He highlights that Etherscan can expand its current support for ENS on the first level of Ethereum and extend it to second-level Ethereum researchers. The second level of Ethereum includes #Optimism (OP), #Arbitrum (ARB), #Polygon (MATIC), and other sidechains that utilize ENS.
He also proposes the creation of additional tools and functionalities, such as enhanced search and filtering for ENS names, integration with wallets and exchanges, as well as improved analytics and reporting.
In response to Harit's proposal, the ENS DAO community has begun discussing the possibility of funding and supporting the project. Some community members have expressed their support for the idea, recognizing the importance of ENS for the #Ethereum ecosystem and the need for its continuous development and support.
However, there are also those who have expressed doubts about the necessity of funding ENS through the #Etherscan team. Some believe that #ENS should be an independent and self-funded project, rather than relying on funding from a separate team.
Currently, the discussion is ongoing, and the ENS DAO community is expected to make a decision regarding the project's funding in the near future.
