Cryptocurrency exchange Binance.US has run into regulatory problems in two US states, Florida and Alaska, the Wall Street Journal (WSJ) reports.
According to the WSJ report, the Alaska Department of Banking and Securities refused to renew Binance.US's January 2024 license. In addition, the Florida Office of Financial Regulation issued an "emergency suspension order for the money transmitter's license."
These developments follow the recent guilty plea of former Binance CEO #Changpeng Zhao to violating #US laws. As such, regulators in both states have raised concerns about his suitability to operate an exchange.
It's worth noting that Binance.US previously sought a dismissal of the Securities and Exchange Commission's (#SEC) lawsuit in late November 2023.
