Vitalik Buterin, co-founder of #Ethereum, has identified "promising options" for using artificial intelligence in the cryptocurrency sphere. He proposed an artificial intelligence classification system based on its interaction with various blockchains.
According to Buterin, decentralization of cryptocurrencies can counterbalance the centralization of artificial intelligence. Also, while AI lacks transparency, digital assets provide a clear view of transactions. Additionally, AI relies on data, and blockchain serves as an excellent platform for storing and tracking information.
Buterin identified four approaches to the interaction between AI and blockchain:
- Artificial intelligence as the main player: In this scenario, AI participates in mechanisms where the main source of stimuli is a protocol involving humans.
- Artificial Intelligence as an interface to the game: This approach helps users understand the world of cryptocurrencies and ensures that all signed messages and transactions match specific intentions, thereby eliminating the possibility of fraud.
- Artificial Intelligence as a rule of the game: This category suggests that blockchain, decentralized autonomous organizations (DAOs) and similar mechanisms directly address artificial intelligence.
- Artificial Intelligence as the goal of the game: According to Buterin, this involves the development of networks, DAOs and similar mechanisms in order to create and maintain AI that can be used for a variety of purposes.
Buterin believes that using AI as a "main player" has the greatest potential, while using it as an "interface" and "rule" has certain risks. One issue is adversarial machine learning, where attackers can use an AI assistant in an open-source wallet, leading to unlimited opportunities for fraud.
The Ethereum co-founder expressed hope that artificial intelligence will find worthy applications in each of the four areas.
In light of the #Buterin statement, there has been a sharp rise in the value of several tokens in the artificial intelligence category. According to Cryptorank, the value of such tokens has increased by around 3-10% in the last 24 hours. The Bittensor token (#TAO) rose by more than 30%, setting a new all-time high.
