US politician Donald Trump has spoken out against the creation of a central bank digital currency (CBDC) if he is re-elected as US president. Trump made this statement during a speech in New Hampshire.
In his speech, Trump emphasized that as president, he will never allow the introduction of CBDC. He believes that such a digital currency would pose a significant threat to individual liberty and intends to prevent its introduction in #America. Trump argues that CBDC would give the federal government absolute control over people's money, allowing funds to be confiscated without the knowledge of those affected.
It is worth noting that many other politicians in the United States share the former president's views. For example, Vivek Ramaswamy criticized the concept of a central bank #digital currency, calling it a "grave" that would bury American freedom and drawing parallels to China's policy of strict censorship.
Robert Kennedy Jr. has also called the #CBDC a tool of control and suppression. He advocates that crypto-assets should serve as a "beacon of financial freedom." However, Robert Kiyosaki expressed hope for the launch of a digital central bank currency in the United States.
Earlier, four US states, namely Utah, South Carolina, South Dakota and Tennessee, introduced bills that would not recognize CBDC as a valid form of payment or exchange.
