Generative artificial intelligence is poised to assist game development studios operating on tight budgets in venturing into the realm of Web3.
This assertion was made by Ben James, the CEO of Atlas company. During a recent podcast on The Agenda, James disclosed that the integration of blockchain technology into gaming was met with skepticism initially. Many studios viewed it as a mere ploy to commercialize products rather than enhance their quality:
"Game developers were reluctant to delve into the realm of Web3. They aimed to ensure that players derive enjoyment from the technology, be it blockchain or artificial intelligence."
As per the CEO of Atlas, generative AI holds the potential to streamline the design and evolution of #Web3 games. He emphasized that this technology simplifies the creation of digital assets like weapons and various in-game items.
"Even individuals lacking expertise in content creation or programming can leverage AI to craft something distinctive,"he remarked.
Illustratively, Ben James highlighted the case of Square Enix, a game studio that has embraced AI to enhance productivity and accelerate game development processes. He noted that the efficiency of certain projects has surged by 200-fold. Both major game developers and smaller studios stand to gain from heightened productivity, as per the CEO of Atlas.
A participant on The Agenda podcast further mentioned that some developers perceive AI as a potential threat to job security. Nonetheless, he dismissed this notion, stating:
"AI can never match the creativity of humans. Even if it masters the rapid generation of game elements, it will always necessitate human intervention."
