Priced at $450, the Chapter 2 smartphone is a more affordable option compared to the first model from Solana Mobile, which can be purchased for $599. According to a Solana spokesperson, the highly anticipated smartphone will hit the market in the first half of 2025.
"Solana Mobile creates a great opportunity for developers looking to incentivize their users with dApps. They won't have to pay a commission as is usually the case with app stores," said Raj Gokal, co-founder of Solana Labs.
Gokal also said that the Chapter 2 smartphone launch will be supported by various projects including Backpack, Tensor, Phantom, Solflare, Magic Eden and Drip. These projects may offer additional incentives and rewards to device owners.
According to insider sources, the development of the new smartphone was spurred by high demand for the previous version of the #Saga, even in the aftermarket where prices exceeded $5,000. The surge of interest was fueled by the release of #BONK tokens. Despite initial criticism calling the smartphone the worst of 2023, #Anatoly Yakovenko, co-founder of Solana Labs, acknowledged the initial sales failure but expressed confidence in the success of the new device.
